Rowan Capital (Pty) Ltd is a boutique asset management and financial advisory firm based in Stellenbosch and Cape Town. Rowan Capital holds both Category 1 (CAT I) and Category 2 (CAT II) FSCA licences for the purposes of rendering financial advice and intermediary services. The team has over 90 years of cumulative experience managing assets.

The discretionary management of client assets is achieved through investing in equities, fixed income, property, Collective Investment Schemes, money market instruments and alternative assets. The client base consists of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), families, companies, foundations and trusts. Martin Versfeld acts as the Key Individual for investments and the operational ability of the company.

Rowan Capital’s mission is to provide innovative investment solutions and above market-related returns. This is achieved by actively managing our own Fund of Funds, share portfolios and global multi-asset portfolios to create diversification and risk-adjusted returns.

Martin has over 30 years of investment management and operational experience with Barclays Bank, Fergusson Stockbrokers (now part of Investec), The Board of Executors Cape Town (now part of Nedbank), Alpha Asset Management, MV Asset Management, Prescient Wealth Management and Rowan Capital (Pty) Ltd. Martin is the Key Individual of the firm, and the Portfolio Manager on all investment strategies.

Andre started his career with Sanlam in 1991 and was soon promoted to become a development manager in the elite financial advisory division until 1998. After being an independent investment consultant for a number of years he became involved in smaller financial services and asset management firms developing marketing strategies and focusing on business development.

Hubert began his career in 2020 at The Burgiss Group (now MSCI Private Capital) as a financial analyst. In 2022, he joined Reitway Global as a global REIT analyst, also engaging in article writing and portfolio discussions. He occasionally writes investment books for the Urban Writers. In July 2024, he joined Rowan Capital as an investment analyst. Having passed all three CFA exams, he is currently gaining the required work experience to earn the CFA charter.

After completing his Master’s Degree at the University of Edinburgh, Martin Jr. ventured to Hong Kong to gain his capital markets experience – initially as an Equity Derivatives Broker at Sunrise Brokers LLP, thereafter as an Institutional Sales Trader at global market-maker Flow Traders (AMS: FLOW). He joined Rowan Capital as Director and Business Development Manager in June 2022.

Gus has more than three decades of private banking and wealth management experience. He spent over 10 years with The Board of Executors (BoE) Cape Town, followed by 20 years at Alpha Asset Management (now Alpha Wealth). Gus joined Rowan Capital as Wealth Manager in October 2022.
